Waiting On Wednesday {22}

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Expected Publication: June 11th 2013 by Balzer & Bay

Born Of Illusion

Anna Van Housen is thirteen the first time she breaks her mother out of jail. By sixteen she’s street smart and savvy, assisting her mother, the renowned medium Marguerite Van Housen, in her stage show and séances, and easily navigating the underground world of magicians, mediums and mentalists in 1920’s New York City. Handcuffs and sleight of hand illusions have never been much of a challenge for Anna. The real trick is keeping her true gifts secret from her opportunistic mother, who will stop at nothing to gain her ambition of becoming the most famous medium who ever lived. But when a strange, serious young man moves into the flat downstairs, introducing her to a secret society that studies people with gifts like hers, he threatens to reveal the secrets Anna has fought so hard to keep, forcing her to face the truth about her past. Could the stories her mother has told her really be true? Could she really be the illegitimate daughter of the greatest magician of all?

I've been seeing this more and more the past few weeks in people's Stacking the Shelves and it's making me even more excited! I love the 1920s and magicians? Sign me up! It also sounds slightly similar to the new movie, Now You See Me. I'll post the trailer below for you (because I'm so excited for this movie!).

It has Morgan Freeman, Isla Fisher, Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco and Michael Caine. Amazing or what?

Okay, so I know this slowly turned into a WOW movie post, but link me your WOW posts and I'll drop on by!

  6. The cover on this one actually freaks me out a bit, I think it's her eye. It's lovely, but something about her eye is off.
    Anyway! I think this one sounds really interesting and it's definitely different from anything else I've read so far. Now You See Me looks like it'll be worth watching, this is first time I've heard of it.

Hey, you there, yes you ;)

Thanks for commenting! This is seriously awesome and I promise to try my hardest to get back to you, so do check back if you had a question or something to discuss!

Sadly, this is an award free blog. I really, really appreciate the thought and offer but with grade twelve and other activities as well as blogging, I don't really have all the spare time in the world. But thank you so much for the thought!

Seriously, though. Check back because I love to reply to comments ;)

Ellen.
