So I'm back from my few days of babysitting and I have some awesome stuff ahead! Today's blog is a part of the Pledged blog tour and today I'm hosting Erin and Seth for a (insanely hilarious) character interview!
Hey Ellen, thanks for inviting us over today.
Ellen: No problem guys! It's great to have you. Just
so our readers understand your awesomness, do you mind describing each other in
five words? (Feel free to commentate on each
others' answers ;D)
Erin: *brushes
hair from her face* “Wow . . . only five words-”
Seth: *interrupts* “And here you are wasting them. Erin is: fiery, brave, loyal, beautiful, mine.”
Erin: *takes
deep breath* “Okay, I can do this. Seth is: loyal (to the wrong person. By the
way, the words in brackets don’t count) gentle, peacemaker, so hot-”
Seth: *interrupts
– again* “I think you’ve seriously overshot your target.”
Erin:
giggles.
Can you tell us a little about your journey in Pledged?
Seth and Erin
exchange looks:
Seth: “You
wanna go first?”
Erin: “You’re just scared she won’t believe us.”
Seth: “No
kidding. So are you going to tell her?”
Erin: *clears
throat* “Well, Ellen, you see it was like this-” *frowns*
Seth: “We
found this crazy diamond Seer-Stone-”
Erin:
*interrupts* “No we didn’t just find it. We were led to it by our Guardians –
they’re angels, in case you’re wondering.”
Seth: “But
that was only after the demons tried to kill us.”
Erin *looks
serious* “The only way I could save Seth was to take us back in time to an
ancient land called Shenaya.”
Seth: *cracks
crooked smile* “And I’m still working on forgiving her for that. Ellen, just a
word of warning. If Erin ever offers to save you, run. In the opposite
direction.”
Ellen: *laughs* (to the audience: Does anybody else get the feeling it should be Seth to run in the opposite direction of? Just kidding ;D)
Erin: “He’s so
ungrateful! Shenaya isn’t so bad.” *pauses * “Okay, so they sacrifice people to
the demon Reuel, but-”
Seth:
*interrupts* “Or enslave you. Or force you to marry people you don’t love – I
could go on and on.”
Erin: *shoves
elbow in his ribs* “Don’t. You’ll give the whole story away.”
Seth: *chews
thumb nail* “Hmm. You know, I hate talking about myself-”
Erin:
*interrupts* “Ellen, Seth was the coolest, sweetest guy I’d ever met - until he found out I was his soul mate-”
Seth: “Do you
mind – guys don’t like being called ‘sweet’.”
Erin: “Ignore
him. Anyway, it’s true. And talk about playing hard to get! I hate to admit it,
but Seth would rather have kissed Reuel’s feet than be with me.”
Seth: *takes a
deep breath* “Erin, have you any idea how that makes you sound?” *brushes his
hand over her hair* “Trust me, Erin deserved much better than me, but in the
end, I guess you can’t fight something burned into soul.” *gives a wry smile*
“She’s mine.”
Awww! With the crystal that allows you travel back in time, what's one era you would love to visit and why?
Erin: *eyes
glowing* “Lizzy Bennet! Please let me go back and meet Lizzy Bennet!”
Ellen: Good answer. I approve.
Seth: “Who?”
Ellen: *gasp*
Erin” *sighs* “Just answer the question.”
Seth: “I’d
like to know who really killed JFK”
What's one thing you've taken out of your adventure in Pledged?
Erin: “Simple.
You have to fight for the things – and the people - you love.”
Seth: “If more
people were willing to give peace a chance, the world would be a better place.”
*grins at Erin* “They do say opposites attract!”
Any advice on life-altering adventures from your experiences for your
readers?
Erin: “Don’t be like me. At first I was so obsessed with the need for ‘concrete evidence’ that I refused to believe lost worlds and time travel were even possible. So be open-minded and you never know what wonder you may stumble on.”
Seth: “Wow. That’s deep.”
Erin: *looking
indignant* “So what were you going to say?”
Seth: “Pack
light. It’s hell dragging lots of luggage behind you.”
Ellen: I can only imagine... Time for rapid fire! Summer or Winter?
Seth: “Either.
Really not fussed.”
Erin: “Summer.
I hate the cold. *gives wicked smile* Although if Seth’s hoodie is on offer,
I’ll take the cold anytime. He smells so amazing.
. . Chocolate and cinnamon.”
Seth: *rolls
eyes* “Ice cream. I like ice cream.”
Erin: *looks
surprised* “Huh?”
Seth: “Read.
The. Next. Question.”
Erin: “Oh. Chocolate,
of course. And if it’s mixed with cinnamon-” *giggles*
Seth: *interrupts* “Ellen wants to know about your favourite book and movie.”
Erin: *looking
smug* “Just getting even, Seth. And my favourite movie is Gone With The Wind. And book? Where to begin? I love so many-”
Ellen: "I completely understand. Books are--"
Seth: “We
could be here all day. So moving on . . ."
Ellen: *grumbles silently*
Seth: I’m a night owl. And I can see Erin is still constructing a ten page list of all her favourite books, so I’ll answer for her – you’ll find her at her best in the morning.”
Erin: “Not
true. I’m at my best when I’m around you.”
Seth: “Aw . .
. that’s so schmaltzy.” *musses her hair* “I guess you just can’t fight
destiny.”
ABOUT
Seventeen-year-old Erin has a problem. Seth has been hers forever, but now an ancient promise is tearing him away. And Reuel, the demon to whom the promise was made, will stop at nothing to force Seth to forsake Erin and to worship him.
How can Erin win against a pledge so binding that it has damned countless others to the same fate she and Seth will face if Reuel wins – an eternity alone?
The answer lies in the past. To find it, Erin and Seth must risk all, travelling back in time to a dangerous world where love is forbidden, and life – and death – hang on a promise.
Follow Erin and Seth as they travel to ancient Shenaya to break the pledge that has plagued their families for millennia. Caught in a war between the Angelic Guardians and the Gefallen, the disembodied dead, they must fight to keep their souls in tact and their love untainted.
I have spent my entire life living in a parallel
universe of make-believe characters, only coming back to reality for long
enough to check that no one burnt the house down in my absence. A few years ago
I decided to commit some of those ‘friends’ and their stories to paper. The Soul Wars Saga is the result of those
efforts. Before that I co-authored two non-fiction travel books – The Complete Guide to 4x4 Trails and The Ultimate 4x4 Guide. Both books
became instant best-sellers in South Africa where I live. And before that even,
I studied a degree in African History and Politics at the University of
Stellenbosch. When I’m not writing, I am a wife to Andrew and a mom to Stephanie,
Erin, and Kate, our teenage daughters. My family and I live in a small town
outside Cape Town with two dogs, a cat, a horse, and some neglected fish. Now
that you know a little about me, I would love to get to know you.
