ARC Review: Spark by Brigid Kemmerer

He could feel flames coming through the floor, looking for him. Sparks and ash rained down. He wasn't going to make it. He was going to fail. Again. Then a hand closed over his wrist and pulled, hard.

Gabriel Merrick plays with fire. Literally. Sometimes he can even control it. And sometimes he can’t. So when an arsonist wreaks havoc on his town all the signs point to Gabriel.

Layne is strangely drawn to him. Layne understands family problems, and she understands secrets. She has a few of her own.

Gabriel can’t let Layne know that the danger that’s right at his heels. But there are some risks he can’t help taking.

Spark is the sequel to a 2012 favourite of mine, Storm. This series is about a group of brothers (the Merricks) who have control over certain elements.
Spark is about Gabriel, the twin of Nick, and has the fire element. If you read Storm then you know that was about the younger brother Chris who controlled water. Nick controls oxygen and Michael, the oldest and their guardian, controls earth.

At first I was initially hesitant because I just loved Becca and Chris. Chris will probably be my favourite brother, but Spark definitely had me warming up to Gabriel too.

Spark starts the day after Storm ends and while the loose ends from Storm don't get picked up until the climax, you can see how Gabriel's complications fit in smoothly to the over arching plot.

While my heart is coverted by Storm, Spark does not disappoint. It opens readers up to another brother, is fast-paced and seriously swoon worthy.

Hey, you there, yes you ;)

Thanks for commenting! This is seriously awesome and I promise to try my hardest to get back to you, so do check back if you had a question or something to discuss!

Sadly, this is an award free blog. I really, really appreciate the thought and offer but with grade twelve and other activities as well as blogging, I don't really have all the spare time in the world. But thank you so much for the thought!

Seriously, though. Check back because I love to reply to comments ;)
